To our community:

As I reflect on the past year, it has been nothing short of challenging for everyone as our nation has navigated recovery from the pandemic. We have seen much less of each other face-to-face, and we’re grateful for the opportunities technology has afforded us in our ability to engage with you through digital communications. Despite the challenges, I continue to be encouraged by our community’s resiliency and the dedication of my team at Twin Metals Minnesota. Looking ahead, we’re excited about our momentum heading into summer.

First, we were extremely pleased to recently welcome two new members to our leadership team. Learn more about them and how they contribute to the Twin Metals project:

• Julie Lucas, Director of Water Resources – As a lifelong Minnesota resident with a background in environmental management in the taconite industry, Julie brings a deep appreciation for Minnesota’s natural resources to Twin Metals.
• Chris Anderson, Director of Legal Affairs – A native of Ely, Minn. and a Bois Forte Band member, Chris brings many years of experience in the energy sector, in addition to having served as a tribal judge, to our team.

Additionally, as our project continues to advance through the regulatory process, our team has a busy year of field work activities, collecting large amounts of data in support of state and federal agencies as they prepare for scoping and environmental review. We and our contractors collect data related to a variety of topics relevant to our proposed project, and we’re particularly proud that all of this work is grounded in our number one priority –safety. We’ve developed a comprehensive safety program at Twin Metals long before we will become operational, and in fact, we were recently spotlighted by the National Mining Association for our safety efforts; you can find the feature on YouTube here.

This data collection work supports our commitment to meeting or exceeding the regulatory standards in place. From long-term economic growth and job creation, to supplying the minerals that are so critical for a sustainable future, this project holds immense opportunities for our communities on the Iron Range, as well as our state and nation.

We recently participated in a video presentation with American Exploration & Mining Association, Jobs for Minnesotans and North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters on how mining and Minnesota have a role in meeting President Biden’s objectives – including his goals to address climate change, shore up supply chains, strengthen our country’s economy and grow union jobs. Also of interest, you may have seen Twin Metals in the news recently. In mid-May, the U.S. District Court upheld the reinstatement of our mineral leases, confirming that they were in fact reinstated in accordance with federal law. You can read the statement we issued on this matter on our website.
