Dean DeBeltz
Vice President, External Relations and Project Operations
My responsibilities include development of our safety program, overseeing all field activities, property management and community relations work to help support the project. I love living and raising a family in Ely (I’ve lived here most of my life), and I hope to provide the opportunity for others to stay and raise families in this area, too. We need to protect the natural beauty of our region while providing economic growth and diversification of the economy. I believe that we will prove we can responsibly and sustainably mine these needed minerals.
Most of my career has been in mining. While I worked at Northshore Mine (a Cleveland-Cliffs operation), our mine was awarded the Sentinels of Safety award from the Mine Safety and Health Administration and the National Mining Association. This meant 170 employees went home safely every shift, every day, for a year.
Outside of work, I enjoy hunting, boating, working on remodeling projects and spending time with my family. You can find me out fishing in the Boundary Waters as often as time and the weather will allow!
